School support staff should be entitled to pay 52 weeks per year, in stead of pro-rata pay. A lot of teachers would agree that without their support staff, they would struggle massively! Is it not time for support staff to get the pay they rightly deserve if they work the same hours as the teachers?

Absolutely, deserve to paid properly. TAs and admin in schools are full time jobs. We can’t just go and get another job for half term or 2 week Xmas hols. It’s not right when jobs are advertised as £18k a year when they are NOT - they’re term time only and equate to about £12k. It’s exploiting staff.

No workers should be paid on a pro rata basis. It should be an illegal system of paying any workers. Many people are not on an actual living wage , so when they get salaries reduced because of prorata , this drives many people into poverty.

The hourly wage for a level 2 TA, equates to below minimum wage once deductions are made for term time working. A benefits checker calculator indicated my wage was below the legal minimum and it should be investigated!

I used to be one, and it is hard to survive on the money. It is unbelievably underpaid for what you do, often responsible for entire class, lesson planning etc, yet supply teachers get paid considerably more. If teachers get oaid for the whole year, why shouldn't teaching support?
