We, concerned travelers and supporters of fair tourism, address Booking.com regarding its travel advice for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Many of us, including UK residents planning trips to TRNC, find the current advice misleading. While we understand the need for transparency, labeling TRNC as unsafe is inaccurate and anti competitive. Crime rates in TRNC are lower than in the recognized ‘Republic of Cyprus’ in the south.

Rectify Travel Advice Regarding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)

It's up to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to determine safety in each part of the world, not booking agencies.

All booking.com has to do is to refer their customers to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office advice. That takes the issue off their hands and rightly puts it into the attention of the correct authority. It's difficult to believe that booking.com will take on the responsibility for assessing all the changing dynamics of safety in each country and region and render themselves liable for the accuracy, currency and accusations of bias, when each country does this for their citizens already officially and with their foreign office expertise and insights. Why is booking.com entering this hornets nest?

Booking.com’s advice for TRNC is not fair and right. As an inhabitant of this island, I can say that the island is beautiful and one of the safest places in the world.

It’s the safest country I’ve ever been to… they’ve obviously been paid to talk **** about a place they’ve never been to. I’ll be making sure to ask friends and family never to use this company. 😡

By using the Greek narrative on TRNC, you are risking the use of your website by millions of of people . I for one will stop now and stead the news of your bias. Remove the false warning on North Cyprus which far safer than South Cyprus.

I have been travelling back & forth from northern Cyprus via southern Cyprus for years. There has never been any issues at the green line border control. Everyone has always been very friendly. Propaganda is unfortunately believed which is a real shame. The Turkish Cypriot people are the sweetest, kindest most genuine people I know who have been persecuted enough by the outside world. They should be recognised as a nation not persecuted. Please remove the warning statement. It is not needed & very hurtful.
