On 18 January 2024, the Israeli military bombed a compound in Gaza housing British doctors, despite the compound being marked by the Israeli military as "de-conflicted" and "[marked] it as a protected sensitive and humanitarian site". The air strike injured several British doctors and severely damaged the compound. Since Israel's assault on Gaza began on 7 October 2023, over 300 healthcare workers have been killed in Gaza, more than the total number of health workers killed across all countries in conflict in 2022.<br /><br />Many healthcare workers in Palestine are British medical staff working for a variety of charities and the UN. The UK government must protect British doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers by pushing for a ceasefire immediately. With the health and lives of British medical workers at risk even in designated humanitarian sites, the UK government must act to protect British aid workers in Gaza.
